What to wear to a wedding ceremony

Advice About What to wear to a wedding ceremony

A wedding ceremony is one of the most important days of the bride and grooms life. Because of this, you will want to make sure you are dressed appropriately to match the rest of the occasion. Also remember that weddings typically have photographers, so there will likely be pictures of you at the event. Because of this, you'll want to look your best and dress to match the occasion.

Traditional weddings (not destination weddings) normally require formal clothing. On the far formal end this consists of tuxedos for the wedding party and suits for other family members. Other guests can wear suits, but more comfortable business casual clothing is also appropriate.

Business casual clothing appropriate for a wedding entails wearing a long-sleeved dress shirt, dark dress pants, black shoes, a sport coat, a matching belt and matching socks. For weddings in the spring and summer that are outdoors, lighter colored pants and shoes may also be appropriate.

Useful Tips

  • Lots of pictures will be taken, so look your best

  • Dress similarly to the other guests - you don?t' want to stand out

  • You can never look too formal at a wedding
